MOP UP INFORMATION: (MISCELLSANEOUS.)

USSR
lenin led the communists through the bolchavik revolution...
belived the poor people were going to rise up through revolution and that they were going to take over the rich and the government and their government was going to wither away. then theres something about some utopia and the government goign away and everyone being happpy and created equal. the theory of communism sounds great but in reality it has never earlly happened.

*for tests know the specifics of the treaty of versailles..
land.. military.. financial.. general.. LEAGUE OF NATIONS (worldwide peace keeping organization that is basically pointless and cannot declare war)

ITALY

benito mussolini...
came to power in 1922. asked by king to come to power.. the king thought that he would be able to keep communism out of the country.. which he did. he got kicked out of catholic school for stabbing someone with a pen knife then became an elementary school teacher and then a dictator? wierd...

washington naval conference.. great britain us france, japan, china.. pacts that dealt with reducing naval size (reducing with the build up of navies) ...nine power pact.. another pact aggreed to keep the open door policy in china and gaurenteed chinese independence... all countries to have free trading rights with china.. this can be added to most of the countries not germany that will be on the test.. (goals: reducing naval size and keeping open door with china)

GERMANY
hitler found his calling with the army.. he was a very motivational speaker.. people did not take his book seriously.

moooooooooooooooore mopping. ):

NAZI PROPAGANDA:

"all propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those torward whom it is directed will understand it... though clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise"

-adolf hitler

propaganda is something to persuade someone..

"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference."

-Elie Wiesel

rome-berlin axis.. first axis between italy and germany

Anschluss with Austria was when Germany annexed Austria. Austria had asked to come a part of Germany after World War 1. People didn't really care because the people of Austria were German. The Sudetenland was an area that had a lot of German speaking people in it. Hitler wanted to reunite the people with Germany. He also wanted to get it back because it was lost from the Treaty of Versailles. The Munich Conference was held and it let Hitler take the Sudentenland as long as he would not take over any other areas. The Sudentenland was part of Czeckoslovakia. Of course Hitler says that he will do this. The Policy of Appeasement came after this. The people made Hitler happy for a short time to prevent war. Winston Churchill thought that they should not have let Hitler get this land. He thought if he didn't get this land he would back down. The Night of the Broken Glass was when Hitler sent people out to destroy the Jews will. The people would break glass on Jewish churches. The Soviet-German non-aggression Pact was when the Soviet Union and Hitler agreed not to fight each other. They also agreed to invade Poland from both sides. They would also trade with each other. The Soviet Union would trade raw materials to Germany in exchange for money and weapons.

In Blitzkrieg there would be air and tank attacks. Then behind the tanks there would be infantry that would eventually encircle or capture the enemy. There would also be mechanized groups in trucks that would get behind the enemy so they were completly encircled. The goal of this type of warfare was to achieve victory as quickly as possible. Winston Churhill became Prime Minister after the Munich Conference backfired. The Maginot Line did not go all the way to the see, so Germany attacked France by going through Belgium

the german invasion of france.. they wanted to invade them up through belgium. they never got to paris.. trench warefare. the problem with germany in wwi was on one side they were fighting russia and on the other they were fighting france, both sides, causing them to split their troops up. in wwii they didnt have to worry about the soviet union because they had a non agression pact with them so hitler could focus all of his attention on france. wwi was started with the invasion of poland. the sitzkreig came about.. some war. in may of 1940 hitler decided to hit france.. he invadced them through neutral belgium. he did not want to go through the border of germany and france because the magionet line was there.. some barrier with all these built in machine guns and all of that fun gun stuff. within a month nazi germany had pushed all of the french and british forces into like this little pocket thing. hitler was able to take france so quickly because france thought that they were protected by the line and they were not ready to fight.. they were too focused on this defensive strategy. in wwi, germany was forced to surrender in a rail road car in france.. this rail road car was put in a museum.. hitler sent the rail road car to some place that is the exact place where germany had to surrender and made france do the same.

the vichy government was lead by marshal henri petain.. they were like nazi france

the free french underground was lead by charles de gaulle.. they were like the good guys in france. their goal was to free france from german control

neutrality acts.. if war is recognized no trade.

cash and carry system.. if we are the united stares and we are gb and france we have to pay cash for them to take goods from out country so we can stay out of debt our ships dont get sunk and so we was stay out of war.

neutrality acts.. keep us out of war, no trade.. 1936-39.

based for destroyers-us would give gb old destroyers for 99 year leases for numerous naval bases they have aroundd the world. we give them what they nead and they give us naval bases over by the western hemisphere.

us...
fdr signs the lend lease act.. we would lend or lease supplies (we were neutral at this time) annnd.. they were all like, hey yo, g britain. you need a ship? yeah, here's a ship. and after war you give us that ship back, and if its destroyed, its all cool. you just give us one of your ships. they basically did this with the countries that we liked which i guess you would call our allies.

now were looking at soome map..

german uboat warefare.. there were a lot of u boats sunk.. and a lot of merchant ships.. i think.. unless on the map the merchant ships are the green ones.. and if so.. then there were that many.

submarine warefare..

fight back byyy..

ultra// when we figure out where they are

sonar// when we like.. use sonar? yeah...

airplanes searching for u boats (hunter-killers) looking to hunt and kill u boats.

atlantic charter.. churchhill and roosevelt meet off the coast in newfoundland.. we make war goals with gb at this time. we are neutral but we arent reallly neutral and we're making war goals and we're not at war and we dont want hitler to be in power and we will only make peace with germany once the nazis are completely destroyed so deciding that we wanna defeat the nazis is that meaning of the meeting of the atlantic charter.. and basically that decision meant that this war was gonna be heck cause we were making any peace until those nazis were gone.

german invasion of ussr.... biggest mistake in MILITARY WORD HISTORY.. hitler was getting a wee bit bored with the war and the invasion he wanted to do with gb never really happened.. so in the summer of 1941 operation barbarosa happened.. the final plan for the operation was the german invasion of ussr..hitler wanted to get like three places or someething like that.. moscow stanilgrad and ... something else in the general area im guessing. this invasion was a big mistake because .... this pushed them to our side, they had a strong army in terms of numbers and they just had a butt load of stuff. germany was way close to pulling this off though. there was this part of the non aggression pact where hitler got raw materials from the soviet union.. as soon as he invaded the soviet union. that supply of raw materials just stopped.. so then he pretty much lost the oil that soviet union was supplying them.. and other stuff too .. but oil was a big thing. hitler figured that everything was gonnna be a-ok.. so the russians were pretty much awesome.hitler came reeeaaaaaalllllll close to moscow.

admiral yamamoto came up with the pearl harbor plan..but he didnt think that they should attack us but then he was all like so if were gonna attack em lets do it like this

we feared japanese sabatoge from people like attacking that were already on the island so we put like all the ships close together so we could keep an eye on them easier.. but this happened to help the japanese because like.. they could destroy more ships with one bomb and like the ones around it would like catch on fire and all that fun stuff..

pearl harbor is a really shallow harbor so when the japanese attacked us with torpedos they put wooden fins on them to make them more buoyant so they wouldnt just like hit the bottom of the harbor.
