For this blog I had to watch a ww2 movie and summerize it. I chose the movie Saving Private Ryan, released in 1998. The movie begins with the storming of Normandy in 1944, the soliders lead by Cpt. Miller to secure the beach. While this is happening, two brothers are killed in battle, while another is also KIA in New Guinea.
It is discovered that the mother, Mrs. Ryan. is to recieve all three telegrams of their deaths on the same day. Knowing this, the U.S. Military thinks it their duty to at least return the final living son to her. Eight men, all under the direction of Cpt. Miller are ordered to retrieve him. Along the way, moral runs low, and the men question the fairness of sacrificing all of their lives, for the life of one man.

Now, the fairness of this situation depends on how you look at it. From a professional stand point, this mission is a waste of resources, time, and men. However, if you were to look at this from a humane standpoint, from the point of veiw of the mother, one could understand how devestating her situatin would be, and essential the mission is.
