World Trade Center

The bombing happened on February 26th 1993.The 1993 world trade center bombing explosion was 200 by 100 feet deep. The bomb that was used was 1,200 pounds and it was homemade. They found this bomb in a truck parked underneath the world trade center in a parking garage. They estimated that 50,000 people evacuated. At that time it was one of the worst terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

In September of 1992, explosives expert Ramzi Ahmed Yousef arrived in New York City on a flight from Pakistan. And began planning an attack on the World Trade Center, with the goal of collapsing the north tower into the south tower. On Feburary 26, 1993 a rental van came into the basement parking garage and parked in a illigel spot. They then began to light 4, 20 foot fuses. The men sped off and at 12.17 p.m. the bomb exploded. 6 people died including a pregenat women and 1,000 people were injured.

Mean while, the authorites uncovered a relating plot. Sheikh Abdel Rahman was planning on blowing up the George Washington bridge. The authorites found Sheikh and 9 others and they were found guilty of seditious conspiracy and other terrorism-related charges.

My thoughts on the bombing of the World Trade Center. I am glad that they got the guy that did this to the World Trade Center and his helpers. I am pretty sure he wanted to collapse one of the main beams to collapse the whole building but they put the bomb next to the wrong one. I am glad that they didn't get what they wanted to satisfy their needs.
