Since most of the men went off to war women got a chance to prove them selves in work place.
Many women were nurses, made weapons and bandages, and also sold war bonds. Some women even worked as spies.
The Women's Royal Air Force was also created. This was created so that women could serve as mechanics and then men would be freed up to service in the army.
By 1917 22% of women that did not have jobs now had them and 68% had changed jobs. Also 16% moved out of domestic services and into factories..
