It took me awhile to get the movie started because it was skipping on my DVD player, after a half hour of trouble-shooting I watched it on my computer which worked fine.
Windtalkers was about the Battle of Saipan. It displayed how Indians were used to help the United States win much of the war. Since the Native American language was not documented the enemies could not get information on the language. The Americans taught the Native Americans code for different military terms, then allowed them to work the radios because the other countries could not understand them. The code was basically unbreakable. Nicholas Cage played a leader in the military who was assigned to watch after a code talker, he was involved in past wars, I don't remember exactly which one. But he had earned a couple medals for his success a US Marine. as The other soldiers were told to kill the Indians if they were captured by the enemies so that they could not be tortured and forced to talk. In the beginning of the movie a bus full of Indians who volunteered are taken to a camp to be trained for war. After they are prepared they are shipped off, each Indian is assigned a soldier to make sure they stay safe. The most interesting part in this movie was when Nicholas Cage, who played a soldier, and his Code Talker went across enemy lines. This made them able to get more information on the enemy and happened because the Indian dressed up as an opposing soldier and acted as if the American Soldier was a prisoner. Later in the movie the American soldiers are ambushed and one of the Indians is killed by a grenade thrown by an American to make sure the Code Talker is not taken prisoner. In the last part of the battle Nicholas Cage dies unfortunately, even after him repeating no one else will die. The Code Talker who was with him when he died, took his dog tag and gave one to his own son as a reminder. The Code talker also had a ceremony with his family to honor the war hero.
In my opinion this was a great movie. There was a lot of action almost the whole time, which kept me interested. I would definitely recommend this movie to a friend especially if they are interested in WWII.
