WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN 1860–1925

William Jennings Bryan was born March 19, 1860. He died July 26, 1925. Jennings was a very good speaker, a lawyer, and a three time presidential candidate, and devout Protestant. He was born in Salem, Illinois. He made his career in Nebraska politics even though that wasn't even born in Nebraska. In 1890 he won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Bryan was a small farmer and laborer. Bryan worked closely with the Populist Party, a group of poor Midwestern and Southern farmers who suffered economically due to low prices for their crops, which they blamed on Northeastern business interests. Bryan was called the "Great Commoner" by people because of his efforts for other farmers and laborers.

Bryan was one of the most important members of the Democratic Party. He felt very strong about getting women to be able to vote. He also had a big thing to do with taxes to help the poor people. I think that William Jennings Bryan had a big influence in American History. I think that many more people should take a closer look at this guy! And what even interests me more is that he works in Nebraska!
