Well, I'm not sure if this is what I'm supposed to be doing since I have been gone all week from school. But, I did why we went to war in 1990. The Gulf War was fought between Iraq and allies of Kuwait. Iraq invaded Kuwait. It started on January 16th, 1991 and lasted until February 28, 1991. (lasted 44 days) There are a lot of reasons why Iraq decided to attack Kuwait. One of the many is because Iraq never 'accepted' Kuwait as a state. That doesn't really make much sense to me. I think they should just accept them. There are a lot of disagreements about the rights of underground oil resources. Iraq has said that Kuwait was using the resources that were on the Iraqi side of the border.This was something Iraq was not going to let go just like that. Iraq blamed Kuwait for reducing oil prices that lead to economic problems in Iraq. They said this around August 20, 1990. This was made such a huge deal because Iraq doesn't have any other large exports product that make profit. This upset Iraq big time. I think that Kuwait should have to give Iraq the profit they made from this IF they really did cross the border.The attack on Kuwait was said to be Saddam Husain's way of trying to gain more land back after the Iran and Iraq war. It is a little obvious that Iraq thought that they would claim Kuwait as a territory for them, and they never actually thought that an allied force would fight back. They thought wrong. Neighboring oil producing countries were scared that Iraq would be able to move forward on them if they weren't stopped in Kuwait. That is probably the most important reason for the war. When this was mentioned, Kuwati actually asked us to come and help them remove Iraq from their country.I think it was nice of us to go over and help Kuwait. Iraq just seems like a crazy country to me and I'm glad I don't live there. The whole incident with the 'stealing' of the oil was a huge argument! I think Iraq should lay off a bit and not make everything such a big deal.
