why did the us go to war with iraq in 1990.

things why we whent to war is 1. saddam is a evil man who uesd poison gas to kill his own people. the iraqi people deserve to be liberated from him. 2. Saddam was ignored by the uniterd Nations Security Council relative in inspection and disarmament. 3. he has weapons pose a threat to Iraq's neighbors and the united states intresets in the region. Aug. 2, 1990 - The United Nations Security Council convenes an emergency session at the request of Kuwait and the United States, and votes 14-0 to condemn the invasion and to demand that Iraq withdraw immediately and unconditionally. the Bush administration has offered a vertety of justifications for its decision to go to war against Iarq. Initially, its emphasized the threat to U.S. national security posed by Iraq's alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction and ties to international terrorists. More recently, it has stressed the need to promote democracy in the Middle East. Along the way, it has also highlighted Saddam Hussein's despotic rule and human rights abuses. Precisely for this reason, a primary justification offered by the U.S. government for going to war in 1990-91 was the economic benefits of ending Iraq's occupation of Kuwait.
