Roxanne Shante's debut hit was "Roxeanne's Revenge" the song became a hit at just age fourteen.A famous 1980s female rapper, Roxanne Shante, finally got Revenge on Warner Music. She accused the label of lying and cheating about the contracts. This lying and cheating led to money not being paid. Instead, she just wanted Warner to pay for her education for life. The education added up to over $200,000.Shante went on to getting an Undergraduate at Marymount Manhattan College and a Ph.D in psychology at Cornell.She then lead a therapy program focusing on African-Americans. In this program, she tries to incorporate hip-hop and have them reveal what is on the inside. I think this is a good way to get things out. It was an all out heartwarming story. A young girl from the projects doing such heroic things. Daily news said it's good that Warner did something good for the world, even though the good had to be fought out. IThere is only one problem with this story, everything is a lie. Warner never had a contract with Shante nor to pay all of her education. There is no evidence of any contract. Roxanne Shante,Lolita Shante Gooden, has no record of her receiving a Ph.D at Cornell or even attending the school. She admitted to this.According to Marymount Manhattan college she only attended school for four months then dropped out, receiving no degree. The state of New York doesn't have any record of her having any psychology license or anything in that field. I don't get why she'd have to lie about all of this, for what?...publicity?
She admits to not having the Ph.D at Cornell, but claims she got her master's in psychology. Cornell doesn't have any record of this. She also claims she got a Bachelor's at Marymount, but didn't attend graduation because of her own reasons. They asked for a copy but she did not reply.
This is horrible that she has to lie about all of this. It was a very inspiring story, but as I read on it's full of lying..and cheating. She accuses Warner of lying and cheating about her money, but yet she is doing the same. Doesn't seem fair.
