Agricultural/Neolithic Revolution - lived in groups and hunter animals, more farming, planting crops and getting domestic animals

As time went on, people started setting up villages, which thenm over time, turned into towns and then some into cities. Cities emerged, more complex ways of thinking and living emerged leading to civilization. As cities grew, social clases emerged

Define Civilization - (Highly advanced society) advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry and government has been reached

Speicialied Workers (soldiers, farmers, teachers, priest)

Complex Institutions - Foraml governments with officials and laws, priest with religious power,

Advanced Cities- population doubled

Record Keeping - records, tablets, events

Advanced Technology - wheel, sailboat, weapons

Questions to Consider -

What are natural borders? rivers, travel, water, fish, irregation

Why are defensible borders important for a civilization to thrive? Defense

Rivers - Nile, Mesopotamia, Indus River Region, Huang Ho River Region

-Arose in 4 seperate river valleys around 3500 BC

-Fertile soil, mild climate, waterway for transportation, water for crops & drinking

-Provided for abundant crops and food surpluses

Fertiile Crescent - first word, area in between Tigris & Euphrates river (Iraq today) great civilization

Mesopotamia - greek for "land between the rivers" 

City-state - big powerful cities that weren't united. a city and the surrounding territory it controls

Dynasty - a series of rulers from a single family-father to son

Cultural Diffusion - process in which ideas spread from one culture to another

 Polytheism - belief in many gods

Monotheism - belief in only one god

Empire - Group of territories or natons ruled by a single ruler (China/Hong Kong/Roman/Persian/British/American)

THURSDAY-

Mandate from Heaven 

-a just ruler that has approval from the gods

-an unjust ruler can lost their mandate to rule

Dynastic Cycle 

-the rise, fall and replacement of dynasties
