THURSDAY- Japanese Invasion of Machuria
-The League of Nations condemned the action but could not enforce its authority as it had no military force
-The message sent to aggressive countries was that a major power could get away with using force because Great Britain and France did not want war
-Japan dropped out of the League of Nations shortly after invasion

-Battle Results- 1. All 8 U.S Navy battleships were damaged, with four being sunk 2. Three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft ship and one minelayer ship were sank or damaged 3. 188 US aircraft were destroyed (Pacific Fleet)
Deaths/Casualties- 1. 2,402 killed 2. 1,282 wounded
More ships to keep an eye on Japanese because Japanese people live in the area and are afraid of sabotage
Pearl Harbor Propaganda - war bonds, giving government money, need to enlist
Backdoor to War Conspiracy - think FDR knew this was going to happen and he wanted it to happen
Only US would go to War if Japan attacked the US
