Weekly blog #3 Civil Works Administration.

The Civil Works Administration was created November 8, 1933 by president roosevelt. The CWA was one of his programs created by the New Deal. It was a program that created 4 million temporary jobs. The jobs were mostly centered around the construction industry. Most of the jobs were improving building or bridge strucures. The CWA spent $200 million a month paying its 4 million workers which was about 4% of the American population at the time. The programs original budget was $400 million but in the 5 month period that the CWA was around its overshot its budget and reached costs of over $1 million dollars. The program was ended on March 3, 1934 and was under harsh criticism that it was an innefective program. I dont beleive it was because it gave jobs and pay to 4 million people.Even though the CWA was under criticizm it still had many great accomplishments. The CWA had four million workers that laid 12 million feet of sewer pipe and built or made improvements to 255,000 miles of roads, 40,000 schools, 3,700 playgrounds, and nearly 1,000 airports, and 250,000 houses still badly needed in rural America.
