Native Americans Coming and Going(Forced) (10,000 years ago) - They came over the land bridge. "All humans came from Africa." Crossed the land bridge to follow their food. Americans came and forced them to leave. They were lied to and cheated out of their lands and everything, Americans did terrible this to them/ treated them terrible.... Forcing them to leave with the trail of tears...
Columbus and Exploration(1492 -early 1600's) - From Italy. Sailed for Spain. Come on four different voyages. Terrible for Native Americans. Not hero, him and the people came over raped and killed Native Americans(treated them horrible). Not the first to discover america... He paved the way to people coming over and settling... He died thinking he was in Asia.... France, Spain, England, and Portugal (the big four who sailed.) Line of Demarcation - Everything east went to Portugal, Everything West went to Spain. Colonization you are staying and trying to build a life. Exploration just looking for goods.
Jamestown and Colonization(Early 1600's - 1770's) - Spain settled southwest America and western South American, plus Florida. Portugal had eastern South American, Belize. French settled central America and a could chunk of Canada. England had Part of Canada the east coast of America. Russian had Alaskan.... Lot of problems with Native Americans... Really started fighting back during this time..
Revolutionary War(1775 - 1783) - "Don't tread on me" believing the England government was being to tough on them. No Taxation without Reputation. This all started after the French and Indian war.... After the French and Indian War, French lost, and England was in diet so they made the colonist help pay for the war(they made people actually pay for taxes)... Bastion Tea Party... Bastion Massacre... July 4, 1776 declare independence... Weren't actually free until we won the war... We won because England didn't try as hard as they could because they didn't have anything to fight against, they didn't really care(England)...
US Constitution(1789) -Articles of confederation first government 1783(Gave most of the power to the states. In the next couple of years the were like the 13 tiny countries.. The founding father meet and the plan was to fix up the articles. When all said and down the articles were whipped out and the constitution was born.... the constitution sets up the three branches of government... and it protects our rights... THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT LEGISLATIVE(congress:make law and declare war) EXECUTIVE(the president, vise president, cabinet: commander in chief, enforces laws, appoint supreme court) JUDICIAL(supreme court: as the final say of the laws(declares if the laws are constitutional)) Bill of rights(freedom of speech, press, religion, bare arms, etc.) Now the states have to listen can't no longer do what they want. The Government is above the States now.....
Westward expansion(1800's) - the original united states were up to the Mississippi river(that was the west).. Louisianans Purchase(moved the western border to Montana and down through there)...Got Florida from Spain... Took taxes in..... Got Organ from England... Got a good section off the West coast from Mexico after the Mexican/American war...Alaska Purchase... Bullied our way into Hawaii and stole it basically... People moved west for gold, to form a new land, and farming...
Texas War for Ind.(1835 - 36) - Took place in Texas when Texas was apart of Mexico. Mexico opened the borders to use as farm land: Two rules you had to follow; you couldn't have slaves and had to become Roman Catholic. Cut off immigration and started enforcing laws and so war broke up and the people who moved into Taxes wan... Battle of Alamo... Taxes were their own country for awhile(lone start republic)... 1845 Texas was brought into the United States.... One of the reason for the Mexican-American War...
Mexican-American War (1846 - 1848) - A year after bring taxes in... The Mexican- American War happened... President sent troops to the border and Mexico thought we want to fight so they started the fight... We wanted war.. United State won... Thought we should take all of Mexico(but didn't)... Payed Mexico for the Mexican Cession(California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, part of new mexico and Colorado)... A war that didn't need to happen but carved up a good peace of the west coast of America....
Civil War(1816 - 1865) - 15 years after the Mexican- American war... break up all the states from Mexico into states or territory.. South thought Abe would get rid of slavery.. railroads were not common in the south... North had more states, population, Railroad Mileage, Factories, Bank Deposits, Iron Production, and Farming... South had more exports, new more about weapons, better general, and had a better reason to fight...
