Tuesday (9/6)- Finishing Presentation
Thomas Edison's- His inventions helped shape our technology.
George Washington- First president he lead a group into the civil war.
Civil War-Destroyed most of the South and many died and but the positive it ended slavery. Abraham Lincoln commanded the union. Robert E.Lee commanded the confederate after Lincoln asked him if her wanted to lead the Union.
Americans lost more than they gained. Nobody won the war both the settlements agreed to stop fighting.
Andrew Jackson- 7th President major general he helped lead volunteers to fight in the war.
Mexican war- It was a war over who had more land. mexico ended up losing a lot of land and people. Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Our relationship with Mexico wouldn't have been good. Scott W infield. General of America fought in three wars and gained a lot of military experiences.
Louisiana Purchase- France needed money for war against UK they get a really good purchase.Thomas Jefferson paid 15 million for the land and he was our 3rd president.

Native Americans Coming and Going- The Native Americans came over the land bridge. Human life found first in Africa. There was a land bridge and water level dropped and they walked right across glaciers as they followed food. They where forced to leave and go to Oklahoma which where specifically for Native Americans. Native Americans were lied to and cheated out of their land and they buffalo where taken or killed. Native Americans were worse than slavery because they just killed them but they kept slaves to beat and have them work for them.
Columbus and Exploration- Chris was originally from Italy and he sailed to Spain. He was the first person to sail the blue in 1492. He went on 4 voyages. Christopher's crew raped native american and the arrowbax native Americans were completely wiped out. He paid the way for really all other explores to come over and Native Americans are having a hard life since they destroyed their way of life in the beginning. Ferdinand- He was known for being the first crew to sail all the way around the world even though he didn't make it but his crew did because he died in the Philippians. They also figured out the world was round. Spanish- Aztec thought the Spanish were god like but they did find out that the Spanish just wanted the gold and they ended up killing off the Aztec. Francisco Pazaro- Killed off the Incas. Biochem- He discovered North America and America is named after him. Henry Cabot- He explored up in the Eastern sea board. Sr Francis Drake- Sailed to England and became the first person to sail around the Northern part of North America and South America. These country's were after gold and other riches more land people anything that could make you money. Gorilla Warfare- They attack quickly they come out of the jungle and fight and run back in. Main Country's- France, Spain, Great Britain, and Portugal. Treaty of Tortures- Portuguese and the Spanish asked the pope (1494) he made a line and said all new lands found west is the Spain and east goes to Portugal. Independence South American Country's from Spain (1830's).
Jamestown and Colonization- Exploration and Colonization- Colonization is we wanna stay here and try to live and exploration is we want to come here and find gold and then go back. Spain settled Eastern South America and Florida. Spain had the biggest empire. Portugal settled Eastern South America the present country of Brazil. The French settled in the Midwest and a good chunk of Canada- Central part of what is now the united states. Britain Part of Canada and a good chunk of Eastern sea board of the united states. We bought Alaska from the Russians for 7.2 million dollars. By this point the Native Americans realized that these people weren't leaving. Jamestown was the first successful colony of the United States.
Revolutionary War-The British are squeezing us to death. It was a flag and the people that didn't want the government to be in their life they would use their flag. No taxation without representation was the battle cry. % of the taxes going up and they wouldn't allow the colonist to have representative in the congress. The French and Indian War ended the start of the revolutions war started at the end of this. The colonists started to resist by boycotting, or not buying, British goods. Boston Tea Party tax on the tea and dumped the tea into the sea. Boston Massacre- Some colonist where throwing snowball and the troops fired and killed some colonist and the troops were taking to trial and had a miner trail basically a slap on the wrist.

July 4th 1776. 1783 we won because we had to win first and everyone who signed the constitution would be traders. They are basically saying that the government should do more for the people. They say they have the right to break away. He is King George III. We are showing the world what Great Britain is doing to us. We won the war because we knew the land and Britain didn't try as hard because they didn't really have anything to fight for. They borrowed the Gorilla Warfare from the Native Americans. We also made a difference by killing off all the better officers that road in on horses.
US Constitution- Articles of Confederation- 1783-1789 when the U.S Constitution went into effect. The articles failed because the State had more power. They wanted a weak federal government and not a king. The United States became the un-united states because they didn't really have a leader to keep them all in check. They just taxed each other and fought a lot. Everything relied on the states. The founding fathers decided to meet to first fix the articles up. All the articles were scraped off and that's when the constitution was born. Constitution sets up the 3 branches of government and it protected our rights.
Judicial- house of representatives. Explain the laws of our country under the constitution. Supreme court is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution.
Legislative- Congress-THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT LEGISLATIVE(congress:make law and declare war)
Executive- president, vice president. President manner and chief of war he makes the final call, he also enforces laws that congress makes. Executive branch makes laws official the president approves and carries out the laws to legislative
Popular salutatory- Rich whites voted but slaves didn't vote. But the Federal Government said no you can't do that. (Voting- Women, African American males and Women, Native American, 1971 it became 18 year old's could vote, if you were in Washington d.c until 1961. 18th Amendment- One amendment that has ever been appealed- making and selling of alcohol illegal. Living document which means its constantly changing.
Westward Expansion- !800's going West would have been by the Mississippi river. They were all territory and then evenly came country. Louis and Clark government sent them out to map the land and find animals and plants and they had Sacajawea who helped. It was a long trek for them. 1819 we got Florida and Louisianan and around their from Spain. Texas was independent and then the government just took them in 1848 the Mexican secession came on.1898 we just bullied our way into Hawaii and took it over. Gatson purchase was used for railroad. Gold rushes, in trouble/ needed a new life, farming, sheep herding, cattle ranching.
Texas War for Ind- (Mexican- American)- It took place in Texas and it was part of Mexico. They decided to open Texas up for immigrants. You couldn't' have slaves and you had to be Roman catholic. They were independent for about 20 years give or take. our country didn't like Rome Catholic because the colonist were prodastint and they left so they could worship their god. The Texans wanted to do what they wanted to do so war broke out and the Texans ( former Americans) won. The Allimo is the best war known but the Texans where demolished by the Mexicans. The Texans became their own independent state for about 8 years.1885 Texas was anixed to the United states.
Mexican American War- The boundary dispute. James K. Poke was the president. He decided to send troops right to the grandday river and poke made it seem like they were attacking us even though we were the instigators because we wanted land. We took about half their land and for 20 million dollars we payed for the states. (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, parts of Colarado and New Mexico ). It made up a good chunk of the United States. This caused issues over the next 15 years because of the Civil War. Getting this land made others mad because there was going to be more free states or more slaves state.
Civil War- Broke all the Mexican parts off into territories. Border states had slaves but they didn't succeed. (Iowa, California, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio.) Southern states left because the South thought he was taking away of slavery from them. Free states would be more powerful than the slave states in congress. Succeeding for about four years. North had (grant leader) more people, more weapons, more manufacturing, better transportation for supplies and people, they had more money, and the North had more food as well. The South had more exports, had better generals,and they knew weapons better, and they actually had a reason to fight because they didn't want slavery to end. Slavery was abolished.
