Why did cities grow so fast? Immigration, farmers moved to the city, african-americans moved to the cities, cities had more job opportunities and cities offered more entertainment.
Problems with the cities--Cramped, old, dirty housing tenements, Lack of good transportation, Lack of safe drinking water, Disease was common, Streets were filthy, Crime, Fires, Poverty due to low pay at work.
Wright brothers-Airplanes helped wars.
Lack of clean water solutions: Chlorine, Federal regulations started to make it even better. George Waring kinda of started recycling and cleaning.
When "police" first started, they were volunteers and didn't do to great a job.
