Week of November 2 - 6

Monday - We continued taking the big group test over everything we learned in first quarter. Tomorrow Mr. Bruns will not be here so we get to work on our new projects concerning big problems for the world. We paired up into groups of two or three to complete this project. We will work on it basically all week and will most likely start presenting these projects on Monday of next week.

Tuesday - Today, Mr. Bruns was gone, so we worked on our new assigned projects about problems in the world. I'm in a group with Katelyn Kluver and we chose Child Labor Around the World for our project. We will have work time all week for this project and will most likely start presenting the projects on Monday of next week. No two or more groups in the same class can have the same topic so it's basically first come, first choose. Also, these topics can not be the same as some of the other topics we researched in our last presentations.

Wednesday - Today we started going over the first part of the map of Europe. The map of Europe is most likely the hardest test we will take in this class, especially if you're not good at map tests. We are breaking the huge map into several little chunks. In a couple of days, we will add the other little chunk of Europe, and then we will take a class quiz. We will continue using this method with the other chunks of Europe. After reviewing this map, Mr. Bruns went over his expectations for our projects, and we then he went over some new methods on how to cite your sources. Also, one thing I learned is that you are required to cite the sources for pictures!! Some of the methods to cite your sources Mr. Bruns introduced were EasyBib, a Citation Machine, and the EasyBib Google Add On. Here's just a quick thing to remember: These projects are over current problems around the world.

Things to Remember when Citing Sources:

  • Alphabetize sources
  • Double space
  • Use hanging indents - These are spaces inwardly put that show the separation between two or more different sources.
  • Do not number sources

MORE POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED IF YOU DO NOT SERIOUSLY CITE YOUR SOURCES CORRECTLY!

Thursday - Today, we first went over our first little chunk of the map of Europe again. Then, we started on a new little chunk of Europe, practiced it for a while, and we will have the class quiz on Tuesday of next week. Lastly, we had the rest of the class period to work on our new projects about issues of the world. This project's due date has been changed to Wednesday! However, this is not exactly set and stone because we might not have school on Thursday or Friday if we keep winning the volleyball games.

Friday - Mr. Bruns was gone again today so we had the whole class period to work on our projects over current issues affecting the world. Remember, these projects will most likely be due on Wednesday, NOT MONDAY! If you want to make sure you have all of the components needed in your presentation, the grading rubric and the 12 Tips to a Good Presentation are linking in Mr. Bruns's Daily Summary.
