Monday- talked about the Supreme court case on Wednesday,

-Define the Progressive Era, why it started and it goals.

-What is prohibition? Why did people want prohibition to come about? What tactics were used to bring about prohibition?

-Describe the impact aid organizations had on our country.

-What did the 18th Amendment do and why did people want it?

-What is socialism? How was it started in the United States?

-What/who were muckrakers and what impact did they have on our country?

-What did local government do to reform itself during the Progressive Era?

-What did businesses do to bring better efficiency to their business?

-What did the progressives do to make the workplace safer?
-What did the progressives do to help end or reduce child labor?
 -What did progressives do to help workers reduce the number of hours they had to work?

-What did progressives do to bring about better wages for workers?

-What did progressives do to make our country more democratic?

-What did the 17th Amendment do?

4 GOALS OF PROGRESSIVES

  • welfare- aimed to help the poor, opened library, and build activity for them

economic reform-they sought to change individual behavior

muck rake-they exposed the problems in our country 

reforming local government-natural disaster, splits up parts of the city's, they created city councils.

reform mayors- did everything to help the city, and to benefit the poor

protecting working children-low wadges, their were lots of accidents due to fatigue

efforts to limit working hours-made a law to limit women to a 10 hour work day

reforming elections- some cases ordinary citizens won state reforms

direct election- the legislature had choose its on united states senators

Tuesday- watch the men who made america

Wednesday-

went over 9-1

 protecting welfare

opened library's

opens swimming pools

started soup kitchens

YMCA-helped 

Salvation Army- helped raise money for the poor

business are owned by people the harder you work the more you earn

a small group of america owns all of the money
