Monday 16
The forum post leaders discussed what they did there post on and then we discussed a little about what happened in france and what happened. Then we discussed what Isis had done and what France is doing about it. We were also discussing what happens when we went to war with them and why and when it started.
Then we studied our Europe map.
Then Graciously and Kaitlin did their presentation they are now on 10 worst countries to be in while doing child labor. 60% of children get payed only 1$ a month sometimes even less. Some countries want to take out regular school and just have the jobs because they said it would be "Earn as you learn" they said. In somalia they have the worst child labor there. They put the kids in so much danger they could all die just by being there. There is so many chemicals that they can inhale or get into and the machinery is horrible. The children basically do everything in some of these countries people will even make them be sex slaves and not just the girls they make the boys do it to.
There is people out there that are trying to to get all child labor banned but there is still so much happening that some people think that they can't stop them from doing what they are doing because they are going to do it anyway. There is a lot of organisations that are doing this they collect donations and they do shows and protest about this the do music for them also.
Tuesday 17
We practiced our Europe map then discued it a little.li
We then discussed some current events like in Minnesota they closed the interstate down because of protesters and someone got shot. Then we discussed how some states decided not to let in refugies for safety.
Then Graciously and Kaitlin did the rest of their presentation which they talked about some of the popular companies that have broken the child labor laws like Nike and JC penney and Puma had over 200 children sewing and making shoes and clothes for people. Then child labor has fallen 40% for girls and 25% for boys the 200 million children work for child labor and 120 million of them work in hazardous places. 75% of that number is children 10 and younger. Most children work on farms they get the crops and seeds and other things on the farm. 20 million of the children work in factories as in toy factories and very hazardous areas. We then watched a video on child labor some of these people started working at 6 years old and some of them almost died and when they call doctors about this problem they said that they are not as important as others.
Then we watched a video on child labor in this country that has the Nike factory and there living conditions are horrible they live in A 9X9 room and 10 families have to share one bathroom and a kitchen and a washing area where they wash their clothing. They only get paid 1.50$ a week and that can by them food and some laundry soap. If you need more things or have to miss a meal or 2. The temperature in the rooms are over 100 degrees and 100% humidity and they have no beds they have to sleep on this flat matt that is on this disgusting floor that rats and cockroaches crawl all over and there sewer is just opened so it runs out for everyone to see and smell so when it rains it get up in your house all over your floor and your things. Then the people that need more money for their family work over time just for them to survive. They can work up to 15-18 hours a day and then they never get to see there kids and they are exhausted then they have to get up in the morning ready to go again.
Wednesday 18
We talked about were all of the refugees are coming from and why and we also talked about all the girls that go through painful things and other people like that.
We then did a class quiz on our Europe map and then studied a new part of the map and talked about the countries a little bit.
We then watched a short video of Human Trafficking. This girl in Mexico thought she had met her "Prince Charming" then a few months past and then he started to beat her and tell her that she needed to be a prostitute and he told her that she needed to have at least 30 men a day and if she didn't she could be beaten to death or get beaten really bad. She was forced to this for 4 years.
Then people did a presentation on child marriage . Then they put on a short video about it. The youngest girl that had to get married at age 5. She had to get married to a boy not to much older than her. Some of these girls don't want to do this but some do because they say it will be better for them. The parents that do this to protect their daughter and her sons mainly there daughters though because if they get raped before they are married because then they will be like an outcast. Then no man will want to be with them because they want there brides to be peur. All of these girls are all too young to get married they all look so sad and unhappy but they are still forced to do it. This one girl in a town in India she had an older sister that had to get married and her older sister told her that to never do what she had to do. So then her parents said to her it's your turn and she turned and said to them if you make me do this I will report you to the police and smash your head with a rock. So then public officials and neighbors came and talked them out of it so now the girl is about to start middle school witch girls usually never get to go to school and if they did they would only get to go up to 5th grade.
Thursday 19
We watched a video the whole class period. It was about all of these little girls who have to get marrried at a young age and work and cant go to school. This little girl that was going to school bu then there was and earthquake and the school was disroed and homes were to they said that they people who servived the earthquake were blessed. But the little wasent so sure that that was true. She saw that this new little school was built and she ran home and told her mom and her mom said that she new and that they cant pay for it because they dont have the money. So the next day she went up and sat were the kids were all sittign and doing school but when she came and sat down the teacher asked if her mom had payed the money and she said no that they have none, so the teacher said that she has to leave until her mom payed the money. So then the next day she ran back there and sat right in the front and the teacher then askeed again if her mom payed the money but the girl dident answer so then the teacher was telling her to leave but then this little girl said that she will keep on coming back until they let her stay and would never stop so then the teacher finaly let her stay.
Then this other girl who had to work at 4 am and end at night had to work for a "Master". Her parents sent her off to do this and she lived with her "Masters". She had to clean the whole house and eat scraps off of there dirty plates and then wash all of the dishes and deal with all the goats. When she wasent with the goats she had to play with the other children but she dident like playing with them at all because they would make fun of her because the way she looked and the way she dressed and how dirty she was. She had multiple "Masters" and Mistresses and they all were crule to her. She was there slave she had to do everything they said or she wouldent have a home anymore she could have been beaten to. But one of her Masters houses had a teacher that came and taught them she loved it the teacher and another offical convinced the people to let her come to a night school where there was other girls there jsut like her and they got a good education but then she had to go to another house so it stoped but then one of the teachers came and was yelling at the man to let the little girl free because its wrong. The man would not let her go but the teacher dident give up so evencualy he let her go and now she is free and she is now trying to get other girls just like her out of these situations and back home were they belong.
There was another little girl only 12 years old and her mother brought her to the police and she had to tell them her story. The girl simpaly said that "Im a Superhero" The officers laughed and said why are you really here? So she said that her and her friend wanted some juice and they dident want to walk because it was very hot, so this man with a cart said he will give them a ride so they got on and he was going the right way for a while but then turned down the wrong way and he said it was a short cut, but the girls friend got scared and jumped off but the little girl said she was not scared so she stayed. She said that she was not scared because she was strong and brave. So the man stoped at his house and said he just needed to get a few things but he had juice in side so the little girl came in and sat down while the wife got her some juice and the man a beer. The little girl dident like it when people drank beer so she got up to leave and the man said he will take her back home but insted he took her somewere dark. He said to her that he wanted to be with her but she said "NO!" Then he pulled out his sword and they fought. She had got him and he begged her to spare his life she told him that she is stronger and Braver than he is and she left him there. She was raped that day by that man. The police took the girls knife and they asked the girl were he lived but hen the bell rang and we had to go.
Friday 20
We practiced our Europe map.
Then we watched the video that we were watching yesterday and it was showing this girl that lived with her family she had 2 other sisters but they died and there own mom had to burry them because her husband died also but she still had one daughter and one son. The mother wanted abetter life for her daughter so when a man twenty years older than her came to the door and was going to take the young girls hand her mother told her to go and have a better life but her brother saw that there was a man coming into the house so he ran and him and his little sister refused the marriage and so she never did get married but she is one of the lucky girls that was not forced to. Her brother sold every thing that they he had and sent her to school.
There was this other young girl that was going to school and she loved it but she hated math class so during it she would color pictures in her note book and she would get caught then the teacher would tell her to leave so she would have to go home for the day. Her father told her that she has to stop and there will be no more of this stuff happenng, and she promised him. They were poor but they always mannaged to send her to school some nights they dident have food to fill there bellys and some nights they couldent affored anything to wash there clothing with. But one day her father to her to the store and he bought her a new note book and some colored pens to draw with. But when she was doing that 3 men came up to her and were telling her to give them her stuff but she keeped on saying no and calling for her Papa. She called about 3-4 times and her father went runnign for her and chased off the men. But he and his wife decided that it was to dangerous for all of the girls to live there because if they went out at night they would be raped. Men would try and steel every thing that they had. So they sent them to a shelter for girls. They were not treated to well there. But then these men they were solders and they were tearing done homes and yelling "THESE ARE OUR HOMES" and yelling at everyone to get out. So they familys had to go some were else and now the little girls family was so very very poor but they still made her go to school even if that ment they couldent eat for 3 day they still made her go.
