Spain- Neutral in WWII- Never invaded because Francisco. Hitler help him defeat others and they saw each others as a friend.
Free French- underground, went to England. Henry Fillipantan would work with Hitler.

Treaty of Versailles- Was the cause of the great inflation that caused WWI and WWII. Germany got smaller. Russia got smaller. Austria Hungary got broken up. Wanted all the land that they lost back.
Who did Germany lose land to?- France, Belgium, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Poland. The league of Nations also took control of Germany's overseas colonies.
Germany had to return to Russia land taken in the Treaty of Brest- Litovsk.
-Some of this land was made into new states: Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. An enlarge Poland also received some of this land.
Military Consequences- Germany's army was reduced to 100,000 men. Germany army was not allowed tanks, air force, was only allowed 6 capital naval ships and no submarines. The Rhineland was made into a demilitarized zone. Did all this so France didn't have to worry about them anymore. FRENCH AND BRITISH BACKED DOWN. No German soldier or weapon was allowed into this zone. The Allies were to keep an army of occupation on the west bank of the Rhine for 15 years.
Financial Consequences- The loss of vital industrial territory would be a severe blow to Germany's economy. Coal from the Saar and Upper Silesia in particular. Germany had to pay $33 billion to the Allies (GB/France)
General- Germany had to admit full responsibility for starting the war. This was Clause 231- the infamous "War Guilt Clause". Germany was forbidden to unite with Austria. A league of nations was set up to keep world peace .
The German Reaction to the Treaty of Versailles- There was anger throughout Germany when the terms were made public. The Treaty was seen by many Germans as being forced on them and the Germans had no choice but to sign it. German representatives in Paris knew that they had no choices as Germany was incapable of restarting the ware again. Many right wing groups such as the Nazis believed in the Dolchstoss Theory (Stab in the Back Theory). Blamed the "November Criminals" (the Weimer Republic) for accepting treaty.

Weimer Republic- The new government in Germany after WWI. Now had a democracy after they lost the war and had never had one before. Not easy to succeed. Failed miserably as a government. Their was a president. Paul venhinderberg.
Adolf Hitler- Born in 1889 in Austria. When he was 3 years old his family moved to Germany. Had five siblings and three died at infancy. Mom-Klara Dad- Alois. His dad beat him, but he was really close with his mother. His brother Edmund died in 1900. After his brother's death, Hitler changed and became more moody and withdrawn. Had more issues at school and with his dad. His dad died in 1903 When he was 13 and his mom died in 1907 when he was 17. In Mein Kampf his book, Hitler said he first became anti-Semitic during his time in Vienna, Austria. Struggled in school especially when he lost his family. Vienna Austria- 1905-1913: Hitler failed to get in the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna two different times. Was told to be an architect. Started selling painting in the streets of Vienna. Failed his examination to get into the Austro-Hungarian army in 1914. Moved in Munich, Germany and joined the Germany army when WWI broke out in 1914.
Hitler in WWI- Hitler was wounded twice while serving. Injured by a shell explosion. Temporarily blinded by a mustard gas attack. There is a story that Hitler could have been shot by the French soldier, Henry Tandy, was spared.
After WWI- Hitler starts spying on the new Nationalist Socialist German Party(Nazi) for the German military. Hitler quickly realized that this group discussed topics that he believed in. Hitler dropped out of the military and joined the Nazi Party and quickly rose to become the leader. Hitler found out that he had the power of speech and persuasion during this time.
Hitler was sentenced 5 years of prison for trying to over throw German government only serves 9 months, and wrote his book in their also.
Hitlers Rise to Power- Hitler is appointed Chancellor in 1933. President Paul von Hindenburg died shortly after and Hitler dissolves the Weimer Republic. Early Actions of Hitler: Drops out of the League of Nations. Starts rearming Germany. Rearms the German Rhineland area
Wednesday-
Anschluss with Austria- Hitler was born in Austria. Did not welcome Germany with open arms. There were a lot of people who didn't want to become apart of Germany. Hitler didn't want people to vote because he was scared they would vote no. He said join peacefully or we will invade. Austria didn't want war so they backed down. Czechoslovakia.(Cartoon- Austria is like the bride while she says i do it was like having a gun to their head they didn't have a choice they would have been taken over.) Hitler wanted areas of land that were lost after WWI called the Sudetenland. Re- uniting German speaking people. Munich Conference was held. Chamberlain and Hitler having tea. "I can only allow you to have the land that is %50". Neville Chamberlain- Great Britain. Adolf Hitler- Germany. Benito Mussolini- Italy. Eduardo Daladier- France. Problem with appeasement doesn't com easy for Hitler he wants more and more and more. Hitler promised that he was done taking over land so he could have the land. "Peace for our time" he prevented a huge war from happening. Hitler was given the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. Became known as the "Policy of Appeasement". (Cartoon- using the spineless leaders of democracy as stepping stones as he gets more and more powerful.)(Cartoon- He will be quiet if we give him is pacifier aka is land.)
Winston Churchill- I dont want to go to war but Hitler is lying and we cant make deals with him. He went to fight in the trenches in WWI. He saw through Hitlers lies. You can't appease a crocodile or someone who wants world domination.
Hitler takes over all of Czechoslovakia- March, 1939. This showed that Hitler was a liar.
President Hacha- Was a doctor and he had a bad heart he was invited by Hitler and Hitler wants to take over Czech. Hitler lets him talk and Hitler goes on an rampage either give yourself up or we will invade you. Then everyone starts yelling at him and he passes out Hitler thinks he is dead and then he wakes up and he gives up to Hitler. Cartoon-German helmet is going to take the light of Czechoslovakia the light is going out. Cartoon- Hitler is plucking away all the country's. Hitler and Stalan didn't like each other.
Nazi- Soviet NON- Aggression Pact- Russia gave raw materials to Germany in exchange for money and weapons. Both agreed to stay neutral if the other entered the war. Until Hitler invaded. Secretly agreed to invade and split Poland. Germany would get the western half and USSR the eastern half. Russia would get Finland, Estonia and Latvia and Germany would get Lithuania. Cartoon- marriage of convenience, stalan and Hitler. 22 months before the invasion. Russia could be the place where he could send his solider to and take over and live.
How did the World React to this Pact?- Shock. Poland was stuck "between a rock and a hard place". Hitler thought it would force Great Britain and France to back out of their promise to help Poland if attacked.
German invasion- Blitz creek lighting warfare. September 1, 1939. Started WWII German and Russia invade Poland to get all the land back that they lost in WWI. Cartoon-Poland dead in the middle Hitler and Soviet Union. Yes we worked together but we still hate each other.
Strong cal-very. Airplanes are coming in. As the diver bombers come down they squeak scaring people. Transportation systems, airport runways, communication lines. Idea to get them so unable to communicate where that are scared and have know will to fight. Bring in tanks and you dont just stop and move slowly you try to git the weakest point of their front lines and try to get past everything and then ground troops and doing hand to hand combat a lot of the troops are going to be on trucks and go inland as far as they can and get out and they flank the enemy. Mental there is know way we can beat them so they surrender.
Thursday-
German invaded- Spring 1940, Denmark, Norway. Beljum, Netherlands, France. Great Britain had control over the North Sea. Attacked France through Beljum. French focused on defense. France's "Impenetrable" Maginot Line- Machine guns torrents. You can't have everything in one space you can trap it and block it and be trapped inside. The Germans were pushing the troops back. France surrenders June, 1940. Erwin Ronald best for fighting down in Africa. Nicknamed desert fox outwitted British. Hitlers proudist moment taking over France.
A divided France- The Vichy Government- Help round up French Jews. The French Resistance leader is Charles DeGaulle. The maquis went out and destroyed submarines fighting back against the German control areas.
Triparite Pact is signed- Axis Powers- Three. Cartoon beast of Greek mythology Hitler the head the Binto Moozalene. Japan wouldn't be Italy should be.

Nazi Goals for Battle of Britain- Destroy the Royal Aire- Froce (before invasion was possible- hopefully by 9-15). Attack and destroy the British Navy. Attack British Troops.
