Tuesday-

World War I- interrupted the campaign for woman suffrage, Women took the men's jobs in WWI showing the country that they could work and fend for themselves. 

Flapper girls- going to college, working more outside the home.

Birth control started in the 1920's. Women were able to control their own bodies. This movement educated women about existing birth control methods. Margaret Sanger.

Education- college degrees 39% women 1928. In 1900 19%  About 60% today.

Pink Collared Jobs- Secretaries, Teachers, Telephone, Operators, Nurses

Harry Houdini- famous escape artist.

Harlem Renaissance- Rebirth of African American culture. Harlem became an African American town in New York.

W.E.B. DuBois-African American Rights. James Weldon Johnson-NAACP, Marcus Garvey- blacks go back to African. Be proud to be black.
