Monday - No School 

Tuesday - Forms of 1920's entertainment: Jazz Music, Football, Baseball, Illegal Drinking, Hairstyles, Fashion

Wednesday - Forms of 1920's entertainment: Movie theaters, Farming, Musical theatres, Radios, Basketball, Flag sitting, Cosmetology, Board Games, Airplanes, Piano, Comedy 

Thursday - Forms of 1920's entertainment: Boxing, Soccer, Restaurants, Childrens toys, Sto/ck car racing, College football

Friday - Charles Darwin stated that humans evolved from monkeys. Tennessee passed the first law making it illegal to teach evolution in school. The American Civil LIberties Union said it would defend any teacher willing to teach this. 

Clarence Darrow - Major lawyer 

Scopes taught evolution and was arrested. Clarence Darrow was hired by the ACLU to defend Scopes. William Jennings Bryan was the special prosecutor. Scopes did not deny teaching evolution. Trial was really about evolution in schools. 

Throughout the 1920s the economy was booming 

Buying on credit - "Buy now, pay later" 

Stocks market was booming 

The Era of "Permanent Prosperity" - "As long as everyone has faith, everything will be fine."     

Cult of Domesticity - The ideal of womanhood had four characteristics: Piety(Religion), Purity, Domesticity, Submissiveness 

Margaret Sanger - founded the American Birth Control League - Women were then able to control their own bodies
