Monday- First, we did our class quiz. Next, we watched the group present their skit on direct democracy. It is when EVERYONE can vote. Then we continued to current events. “Muslim ban” It is really not Muslims because that is just a religion. It is seven countries that were banned. This is ultimately to protect the US but there's a lot of controversial talk about the subject. Many people think this is racist, and many people think it is just directed toward Muslims. There was a statement made on the the statue of liberty. “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…” This ban is for 3 months. A lot of the press is overreacting.
Tuesday- Sub- First talked about how Trump fired the executive. This was completely legal. We then just worked on anything we wanted for the rest of the hour.
Wednesday-
At the beginning of class we quickly talked about the current events and went over a piece of the Europe map. Afterwards, we talked more about communism.
Absolute Monarchy-Rule by one person it is hereditary. They do not need to follow the law or the constitution. Absolute power. Examples - Kings/ Queen -- King Abdullah (Saudi Arabia)
Constitutional Monarchy- A king or queen doesn’t have all the power because they have to follow the constitution. Examples- King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia, Queen Elizabeth
Practice of Communism- A system in which goods are owned and are available to all. Although, an authoritarian party still has total power. Owns and controls businesses. Examples- China, Cuba, North Korea, Louse, etc. Soviet Russia was the first
Theory of Communism- The idea of Karl Marx to create a perfect government that covers everyone's needs and everyone gets equal shares. HAS NEVER HAPPENED
Thursday- At the beginning of class we talked about due dates. Then we practiced a part of the Europe map. We went over current events about Trump asking a prayer for an actor who got low ratings. Many people couldn’t tell if he was joking or not… Iran is not allowed to create nuclear weapons but just recently they have released a rocket. Our country will be keeping a close eye on Iran from now on. Then we presented about Socialism and Capitalism and for the the last few minutes of class we continued talking about the topics and then the last group presented.
Anarchy- There is no government. People do not choose this. They fall into it. Somalia right now. England- English civil-war, France- French revolution, Russia - civil war,
Oligarchy- A small group of people that run the government by themselves. US kind of because a lot of people work for the government, China, India, Britain, Russia
Friday- We started watching documented.
