Week of Jan. 23rd- 27th

Monday-GDP- Amount of Goods and services produced in a country in one year

NAFTA- North American Free Trade Agreement

TPP- Trans Pacific Partnership- Get rid of terrorists and make trade easier is the goal… This however takes American jobs

Free trade with cheaper goods- cons manufacturing and job losses

Bipartisan- Both parties

Partisan- One party

The size of the audience was debated all over the internet. Trump’s team states that he had the largest crowd, when obviously, he didn’t. The pictures show that he had less of a crowd.

Tuesday- Went over part of map for class test tomorrow. We were then given our topics in our groups for our next project. Our group got Economic Systems. After getting the directions, we had the rest of the period to work on our projects.  

Wednesday-  Map class test and current events. One that was brought up was Trump’s plan about building the wall. - Early Out

Thursday- Class work day on our presentations. -Early Out

Friday- Practiced map at the beginning of the class. Class quiz on Monday. Went over current events about immigration and Trump as the new president. The rest of the class we had a little bit of work time and started presentations.

Democracy

Direct Democracy- 

Definition- Every citizen votes on government issues. 

Examples-

Athens, Greece- 4th and 5th century. together they had an assembly and decided everything as a group. 

Switzerland- You don't have to register to vote so every person gets a chance. 

Rome- Had citizen lawmaking 

New England- Town meetings where they had town meetings- locally.

Representative Democracy - 

Definition- A group of people that vote on behalf of all of the peoples. 

Examples- 

United States 

Mexico 

Representative examples- 

Spain 

Germany 

United Kingdom- crowned republic
