Week of February 12th to February 16th

Monday-

United States Housing- Cleared slums/ ghettos, low cost and affordable housing, Bring money to communities, problems not much funds, and dthe president didn't like the organization, Blacks were not allowed in certain communities, fixed lots of problems of the inner city. Red lining- racisim. Blacks lived in the red lined areas.

*Tennesse Valley Authority-It created jobs for people. Modernized crops, contain floods, It is around today, and they moved their headquarters but they are still around.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation- Created by the Glass-Steagall Act in 1933, Insured peoples money in banks up to $1000 (today up to $250,000), Passed in response to the bank failures after the stock market crash,Insures money in savings and checking accounts, money market accounts and CD's

Tuesday-

 National Industrial Recovery Act- Codes of fair competition, was aimed at supporting prices and wages. Declared unconnstitutional, they thought that businesses should be free not controled by the government. Blue eagle. AAA was declared unconstitutional.

Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act- Government paid farmers to reduce production. Conserve the soil. Plant trees, and native grasses, keep nutrients in the soil, Soil erosion dropped 65% because of this organization.

Court Packing Bill- thought that the old people in the court were slowing down the Great Depression progress. People thought that he was rigging the system.
