Week of Feb. 6-10th

Monday: We finished our presentations and started going over the the power point about politics today

  • Left side- democrat/ liberal

  • Right side- republican/ conservative

  • Most Americans are in the middle- don’t choose a specific party

  • 3rd parties- these exist because some people don’t agree with either side and candidates know they won’t win but run anyway to give people someone to vote for other than the main parties.

Tuesday: We continued going over the Politics Presentation and took a class quiz over southeastern Europe

  • Sometimes there’s a split between beliefs in political parties. EX: 1912 election: Roosevelt created the progressive republican after he split from conservative republicans

  • Tea Party-2009: after bank bailout (government gives money to bank), new law for health care, and economic stimulus package

  • Protesting the strength of the federal government was similar to Boston tea party

  • Tend to be very conservative and libertarian “Don't Tread on Us” -We don’t want the government to tread on us with the debt and taxes.

  • Conservative Republican Characteristics

    • Illegal aliens are illegal

    • gun ownership is sacred

    • balanced nation budget

    • strong military

    • no more intrusive government

    • english should be the core language

    • illegal abortions

    • anti-same sex marriage

    • deficit spending should be ended

  • Liberal- open to changes

  • Conservative- religious aspects matter more

  • Moderate- in between liberal and conservative

Wednesday: No School

Thursday: We took the Europe map test and got our Latin America maps

Friday: Started going over Latin American Countries.
