Byzantine Empire

  • Roman Empire was split into East and West
  • West was known as Byzantine Empire
  • Capital was Byzantine Empire

    • Uncle was Justin emperor of Constantinople 
    • Became emperor in 518
    • Gained the title of Caesar 
    • Sent belisarious to reclaim North Africa and then Rome

    • His victory made Justinian send him to take back Rome and Italy from the Ostrogoth
    • Rome changed hands 6 times in 16 years

Turkish Empires

    • Persian armies went to the Abbasids capital and overthrew the Abbasid ruler
  • Conquering Seljuks
    • chinese said that there were these people call the Tu-Kiu living west of their borders
    • They said that the Tu-Kui were the Turks
    • Toward the 20th century the Turks began to convert to Islam and moving in the weakened Abbasid Empire
    • Turkish groups were known as the Seljurks
    • Seljuks grew in number and strength
  • Turks Secure Persian support
    • Conquered the Persian Seljurk rulers accepted the support of the persian empire
    • Former Persian had lead roles i the Turkish empire

  • Crusades also known as Franks controled the Holy LAnd until 1130 until the Muslism grew

  • Back and forth attacking until Muslism grew stronger
  • Get to heaven if they fight

End of Crusades

  • Egpty defeats the Mongols 
  • Turks and Muslim forces siege Acre and drive put the Crusaders out of the Holy Land
