Week of August 31- September 4

Monday- We talked about forum post leaders and presented our top 5 main events in American history 

Tuesday- we learned more about the constitution and who signed it. Learned about how Alfred Hitchcock is known for his abnormally large signature. We learned about the new government and the articles of confederation and how they failed. 

Wednesday- We presented presentations again and learned about the civil war. we learned how families fought against each other and about pilgrims and how thanksgiving came to be. we learned that Abraham Lincoln was the president that made thanksgiving a national holiday. we learned more about the civil war, Louisiana trade, the original 13 colonies, and so on. we learned about the klu klux klan and how even after slavery was abolished Africans were still segregated and discriminate them.  3 major migrations across the and bridge to the Americas and Canada. first migrants to come to america populated mostly the Canadian region. 

Thursday- We learned about the fall of the British government in america in the revolutionary war. Drew, Caleb, and fays group all presented. most of the facts were the same as the other groups so i didn't learn much new information but it was good review. slavery started in america in 1619. Frederick Douglas led a movement to abolish slavery from 1830 to 1860. The Mexican American war was actually fought on both sides of the border. We gained the southern part of taxes after winning the war.
