Oregon Trail- Everyone was trying to strike it rich with gold in California or start a new start to their life 

  • Narcissa Whitman- First Women to make the whole Oregon trail  
  • Levi Strauss- Jeans 
  • Mark Twain- Book writer 

Revolutionary War- The war between Great Britain and The 13 colonies 

  • War 1775- 1783
  • Declared independence in 1776 but wasn't considered independent until 1783 

Civil War 

  • April 12, 1861- May 6, 1865
  • South and North Sides 
  • South tried to seceded due to Lincoln's wanting to not to have slavery in the western territory 
  • The Emancipation Proclamation 
  •  Gettysburg Address- Was a Funeral speech
  • Jefferson Davis- Led southern states to succeed
  • Underground Railroad- Away from the plantations 

War of 1812

  • Second war of Independence 
  • British wanted America back 
  • British burned down DC
  • Impressment- The British would take people sailing on ships and force them back to England regardless if the they were from there or not 
  • Stop Fighting War 
  • Star spangled banner was written about the battle at Fort McHenry

  • John Cabot- 1497 East Coast of America
  • Amerigo Vespucci- First to Recognize as different continents
  • Trading systems- Triangular

Age of Colonization

  •  1585-1763
  • Brought Religion and Politics
  •  First Colony- Roanoke- No solid explanation why everyone was gone 
  • Jamestown First Permanent settlement
  • Squanto- Helped colonist live 
  • Plymouth- Rough time but not as bad as Jamestown
