Monday- Work day for 7th grade review project, make words big, put pictures, put sources using Easy bib.
Tuesday- Work day for 7th grade review project.
Wednesday-
America Discovery- Columbus and the European people brought disease and changes in the environment, they started to destroy the native population. Four voyages to America, new supplies for England to help economy. Landed in Haiti/Dominican Republic region.
Revolutionary war- Started by a gunshot that wasn't supposed to be fired. First government of United States is Articles of confederation. John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence, main guy in Revolutionary War.
Civil War- Thomas Stonewall Jackson- confederate commander before Robert E. Lee.
African American rights- Octavius V. Catto leader of an organization for their rights. Suffrage- Voting rights for people without them. 14th amendment helped African Americans gain rights. 14th amendment is equal protection for people so it helped gay marriage become legal and now helping with transgender rights.
Inventions- Copy machine made by Thomas Edison allowed stencils to be printed in huge volume. Carbon transmitter- allowed telegraph to send a clearer signal with a higher frequency. Telegraph influenced modern communication.
Constitution- States were independent and not getting along so they made three branches and they made the colonies more unified.
Thursday-
War of 1812- War between United States and British Empire. British had Native Americans in Midwest they thought they controlled. British were fighting French and fighting the Americans. British beat the French but no one really won between Britain and America. James Madison was the President at the time. British troops burned down the White House when the invaded Washington D.C. Since then there has been 200 years of peace. Star Spangled banner was composed during this war by Francis Scott Key.
Friday-
Civil War- Jefferson Davis was captured and the war ended May 10, 1865.
Christopher Columbus- First landed in the Bahamas- October 12 of 1492. Protest on Columbus day because of the way the Europeans treated Native Americans.
Jamestown Settlement- John Smith was the leader to make sure people had what they needed.
Declaration of Independence- 56 people signed it. Gave other countries hope that were facing similar situation.
