- Oregon Trail was from Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon

- Narcissa Whitman- First female to make The Oregon Trail on foot

Revolutionary War

- Fought between Great Britain along with the 13 original colonies

- Lexington was where the "shot heard around the world" took place

- 217,000 American Soliders in the war

- Time period was 1775- 1783

Civil War

- Union vs Confederate States

- First battle was at Fort Sumter

- April 12, 1861 - May 9, 1865

- 620,000 deaths

War of 1812

- Second war of independence

- Lasted from June 18th, 1812 to February 18, 1815

- Great Britain wanted America back

- McHenry raised flag, inspired United States National Anthem

Second Group:

Louisiana Purchase

-  was a land deal between the United States and France

- U.S. got 827,000 miles of land for $15 million.

Third Group:

Era of Exploration

- Europeans explore Africa, Asia, and America

- Wanted spice and gold

- Sailed around world

- Amerigo Vespucci 1st person to recognize separate continents

- Created trade systems and led to colonization

Revolutionary War

- Because they didnt want to get taxed

- Boston Tea Party was Dec. 16, 1773

Louisiana Purchase

- Largest land purchase

Civil War

- Southern states lead by Jefferson Davis

- Battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest

- Emancipation Proclamation set goal to abolish slavery
