Monday- Industrial Revolution- Why did people move, describe a cowboy's life, How did US deal with Native Americans.
People moved for land, hunting, gold, ect.
Tuesday- Many buffalo killed. People would shoot them from trains and let them lay. Cattle ranching 1867-1880. Open range, but people put up fences so it made them go around them. Long drives. Cow towns.
Wednesday- Buffalo products
Thursday- Reservation- We took land from indians because there was good gold. Indian territory gets split into 2 and they merge to form Oklahoma. Destruction of buffalo- Whites just shot them for fun and let them lay. People would shoot them from the trains and just leave them. Dawes Act- Gave land to Native Americans. Ended tribal ownership of land. Those that do this will be granted US citizenship. Goal was to "Americanize" Native-Americans. Native Americans lost a lot of land. Not required but the other option was not good. Ended in the 1930s.
Friday- People did not go to the city very often when they lived in the parries. Grass hoppers hit the farms hard in 1870s and extinct as of 1902. They would cover the whole sky and you could not see at all. People would leave the farm because they did not like to farm their whole life. Dust bowl was because they did not plant different crops and they would till all of the times. Kids would dust all of they time because their house was built out of dirt.
