-Korean War
Korea was invaded and ruled by Japan from 1910-1945, after WWII Korea was split into two North and South. An election was going to be held to eventually unify Korea. United Nations election held in 1948, SU refused to sallow participation in the election in their occupied zone. Instead they headed over power to the NK communist Party under Kim. China and SU- they wanted to seek permission from them, and they agreed to support Kim. With that support NK invades. North Invades and pushes south all the way down to PUSON. We were surprised of the invasion the US. UN Security Council voted to send troops to help SK. US GB France, china and the SU were permanent members that could veto the police action. So ANYONE OF THEM could veto a police action. Why didn’t SU or China veto this proposal? They cross the river and attack us, and we are not prepared at all. Why was McAuthour fired? He went against Truman’s demands.
Kim Il Sung will always be the grand leader. Kim Jung IL next and under his rein they became a nuclear power. Pulled out of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty and could no longer have nukes but use the nuclear for power.

Was our enemy, north Vietmanize army. Bombed two countrys next to Vietnam- Nixen. He expanded the war/ escalated the battle. Ted offensive, happened on this day. Johnsen was president, and west moorleand. Pentagon papers- leak to the new York times, someone in the gov leaked to secret infor andsomeone form the new York times published it.
My lai Massacre 1968- Us soldiers killed 504 Vietnamese civilians. The dead civilians included 50 3 or younger, 69 between 4 and 7, and 27 in 70s or 80s. Women were raped and bodies mutilated. People got out of serving if… pregnant, homosexual, went to Canada and other countries, got married, medically unfit for service, went to college (student), joined national guard, coast guard or peace corps. Nixon and Vietnam- Nixon called for the Vietnamization of the war, peace with honor, gradually pull us troops out and train the ARVN to take our place in fighting the North. Expanded the war into Laos and Cambodia leading to college protest.
