Monday- We went over the key questions for chapter 7
Ch. 7.1:
Why did immigrants come to the US?- For jobs and a new start
Where did immigrants come from?- immigrant legal and illegal came from mexico mostly
What problems/issues did immigrants face on the trip over and once they got here?- they had to get green cards and once they were here and had them if the green card ran out they would just stay her and be illegal
Why did some people want to put restriction on immigration? What were those restrictions?- because some immigrants we didn't want in the united states
Tuesday- We went over Mr. Bruns presentation
Wednesday- Mr. Bruns asked the class who can do family history and who can't. Then we watched video's over Ellis Island and Angel Island
Thursday- We did 7-2 questions
Ch. 7.2
Why did cities grow so quickly in the late 1800's and early 1900's?- Cities grew so quickly because of the immigrant's when they came over they needed places to stay
What problems did cities face due to the rapid increase in population?- Cities were nasty and disgusting because there was a lot of disease going around and people would throw their garbage out the windows and pigs and horses would poop all over the ground plus people would also dump their garbage in the river's and it wasn't safe to drink then. Also fire's were breaking out all over
What did some people do to try to help the bad situation in the cities?- Some people would go into the cities and tear down the buildings and rebuild newer better ones with sprinkler systems, fire escapes and more.
Friday- We were still going over Mr. Brun's presentation
