Week 16 Blog
In the first 4 pages senator talks about the “Little Ice Age”. This happened during medieval times, right after the medieval warming period. Senator says that in these times humans could have influenced some, but not hardly any because there were almost no human caused C02 emissions. He also talked about the “hockey stick” or “Smoking Gun” that seems to happen on the graphs shown. These are basically quick rises in temperatures in a giving time. My thoughts on this are that this could very likely be the case because it all seems logical.
In the next 4 pages he talks about how Antarctica is getting colder and ice is growing back. Also he talks about how computer models are the only thing that we have to be afraid of because it is all science fiction. Then he talked about alarmist that just keep predicting things that wont happen. After he brought up that a study showed that “global warming” is actually not at the top of the list of global crises. At the end he says that the media is hyping things up and saying untrue facts. What I think of this is that he is right about the computer models and the alarmist. I also agree with his statement about the media hyping things up. They need to just say things that they know will happen for sure.
Next he talks about the ice age that was said to happen. It was supposed to happen in 1900’s but never did. And the media could not decide to talk about warming or cooling scares. This ice age was going to wipe out Canada and other countries as well. Crops would be taken out, mass starvation, and violence would break out. He talked about a 60 minutes program that we leaving out lots of facts and was completely bias on the issue that the ice caps are melting. My reaction to this is he is right about all the statements he has made so far, because the earth cant be warming and cooling at the same time. No countries were wiped out because there was no ice age.
Then he brought up Tom Brokaw. He use to be an anchor for ABC news. He worked with scientist to prove that humans were destroying the earth. He failed to mention and thoughts of scientist that agreed humans were not the only cause of global warming. I think this is a good point because he doesn’t say any thing about he we are not the only ones.
Then next issue he talks about it Polar Bears and how they “look endangered. He says they “look to be endangered or tired or dead,” but we do not know.
