Two Top Al-Qaida Leaders killed
US and Iraqi Forces say they have taken out two of the top Al-qaida leaders. This took place on Sunday morning during joint operations south of Tikrit.
Abu Hamzah (Abu Ayyub Al Masri) was the leader of military forces. He replaced a person who was killed in 2006 named Abu Musab al Zarqawi. He is responsible for many of the bombings that took place so far. This will hurt Al-qaida because now they have to find a new leader. This will slow the bombing and give the US forces a chance to strike.
Also killed was Hamid Dawud Muhammad Khalil al Zawi (Abu Umar al-Baghdadi). Hamid was named “prince of the faithful” because he was the leader of the Islamic state of Iraq.
16 additional suspects were arrested after questioning. There was only one us soldier killed during this. He died in a helicopter crash.
