She had The Nuclear Arms Race.
The Nuclear arms race was between the Soviet Union and the U.S. and their allies. Other countries around the world began to make nuclear weapons. The Soviets were very concerned by all the bombs the U.S. was making. JFK announced that they were building nuclear shelters. Massive Retaliation and Mutual Deterence is if the Soviets launched missles at us, we would launch back. We would never use them becasue they would bomb us back. It worked and nobody bombed anybody. The U.S. was the first country to use nuclear weapons. The Trinity was the first weapon and they did a test on July 16, 1945 in New Mexico. It was five times hotter then the surface of the sun. Hiroshima was bombed by "little boy" and Nagasaki was bombed by "fat man". They chose these places becasue they had a strong military there. A lot of people died and the cities were completly destroyed. The Anti-Nuclear Movement was a social movement that disapprove of nuclear weapons and technology. The purpose of the movement was to reduce or stop the use of neclear bombs. The peace sign was originally a sign made for a campaign on nuclear desarmment.

Its over Nixons visit to China.
In 1972 Richard Nixon went to China. It was the first time any U.S. president visited China. On July, 1971, Henry Kissinger, Nixon's advisor, secretly visited Beijing during a trip to Pakistan. He wanted to normalize the relations between the U.S. and China, reduce the trade restrictions, ended 25 years of isolation, 1960 the PRC split from it's main ally, the Soviet Union, 1970 the struggles became stronger and Nixon wanted to put the conflict towards the Cold War. The ROC is referring to Taiwan and the PRC is referring to China.
One-China Policy
The U.S. and other nations felt that the PRC was teh main legal government of China. Countries that wanted realations with the PRC had to understand the policy and couldnt have relations with the ROC. The PRC claims that Taiwan is part of China and part of the
The Communist Party of China eventually defeated the nationalist. The Communist party founded the PRC.
Nixon goes to China and they make the One-China Policy.
Then Josh started his presentation.
He did the 1970's peace agreement.
Detante was used to ease the tension between the U.S. and Soviets from going to war. They used it to have more trade with western Europe. It was easing of tension.
Strategic arms limitation treay.
Salt 1 helped reduce ballistic missle launchers and those are the things that launch the missles. The submarine-launched ballistic missile came more of because they couldnt make the other ones. It basically just limited the amount of missles that we launched.
Salt 2 is a replacement agreement for a long term treaty. They reduced every missle that you could make. It got passed, but it soon failed.
