Bruns once again continued his presentation.
The Royal Air force was the whole reason that Germany was never really able to invade Great Britain.
The U.S. gave G.B. what they needed. We gave them supplies and they gave us naval bases.
There were no death camps in Germany. They didn’t want them in Germany because they didn’t want the people to know what was really happening to the Jews. When the war started going south for Germany they started killing more and more Jews. They started digging up the graves and burning the bodies so nobody would find them.
~The Neutrality Acts.
They came out with a new one like every year. It had basically three main stages.
-We wouldn’t trade with people who were in war because our ships would get sunk and they wouldn’t pay us back.
-The Cash and Carry act was where the countries at war would come and get their stuff on their ships and they would pay cash for it.
-The lend-lease act said that we would lend or lease supplies to countries at war. We wouldn’t trade with Germany. It was like, here have a ship and when the war is over just give it back.
The Atlantic Ocean was a battleground. There were tons of ships that were sunk. German u-boats were doing really good in the beginning, but as the war went on we started being able to find them. We had codes and radars that we could track them.
Great Britain and United States met and discussed war goals. That is weird because we weren’t in the war yet and we were supposed to be neutral. We made a rule that said we wouldn’t ‘side’ with Germany. We wouldn’t agree with Hitler until all the killings of the Jews stopped.
~German invasion of the Soviet Union.
He didn’t like them, but it was a mistake. It was a mistake because they were huge. They had a ton of people, resources, and land. It looked pretty good for Germany in the beginning. His goal was to take over in about 6 weeks.
The Soviets were not prepared for this because of the non-aggression pact. They retreated and Stalin told everyone to burn everything; all the land and all the resources. They did this because if they couldn’t use it then Germany couldn’t either.
Germany was doing pretty good until they got to Moscow. The thing that helped the Soviets was the winter. Germany wasn’t prepared to fight a winter war, but the soviets were.
Yamamoto was a very smart person. He was the guy who drafted the Pearl Harbor attack plan. He was the one who said don’t attack the U.S. because they are too big.
