Today Bruns started talking about the Treaty of Versailles. It was kind of like our blog discussion but it wasn’t worth as many points. I talked a little and named some of the four main countries. I don’t know if I will get any points for that, but oh well. He was talking about Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points. Germany wasn’t really mentioned in these points. Germany was split into East and West Germany up until 1991. I didn’t know that, and Bruns said that he has a piece of the Berlin Wall.
I think that’s pretty amazing. I want to know how he got it. Ha. Russia was our allie and they still lost some of their land. So, I guess that Yugoslavia is no longer a country. That saddens me a little because I like to say that name. It is now Montenegro and Serbia.
Then we started talking about our descent and where we came from. Then we started talking about the military consequences and they were not allowed to have a navy and they were only allowed to have 100,000 soldiers. They were only allowed to have six battleships and they were not allowed to speak to Austria.
Then we went into the Financial. Germany had to pay about 33 million dollars to France. That is a crazy amount of money. They went into a HUGE depression in the 1920’s. There money was pretty much worthless. They would use it for wallpaper and they would burn it. That is just ridiculous. They lost a lot of land so they lost a lot of money because of the farms and factories.
The League of Nations was a worldwide peace keeping organization. The U.S. never joined and they didn’t have a military force. When Hitler started going into countries and invading and the League of Nations said you need to get out. They would laugh at them and say nope because the League doesn’t have a military so they couldnt really do anything.
