Today is a blog discussion day about our blogs from last week. We have no assigned blog for this week :)Sams blog was about the giving of loans to farmers and railroads. They told farmers to stop building stable crops and they killed pigs and stuff.Kelsey B. did Franklin Roosevelt. He started the New Deal and he married his fifth cousin. He was shot at but missed because someone stepped in the way and he died.Amanda did African American Activism. Roosevelt gave 100 african americans money and this lady took the money and made a school for african american girls.Josh did his on RRR. It was about the recovery of the nation pretty much.Rey did his on 100 days. I couldn’t really hear anything he was saying except 100 days. It was something about the New Deal. After the first 100 days a “report card” comes out about what happened in the first 100 days.Nick did Eleanor Roosevelt. I could really hear anything he was saying. He said something about her parents died when she was young I think.Brandon did his on Franklin Roosevelt. He was paralyzed before he became president. Nobody really knew about his paralyization. He had an affair and Eleanor found out and he stopped seeing the other girl.Shelbie did Dorathia Lane. She was a photographer during the Great Depression. She was educated in New York and became very successful. She had her own studio and she would get to know the people she was photographing. She would sometimes write stories about them.Joe did his about the culture of the 1930’s. New technology was coming out like tv’s. A lot of movies were coming out like the Wizard of Oz. Movies were good because it was an escape from their hectic life.Luke did his on FDR. He served 12 years of presidency. He ran 3 terms and was elected 4 times. He died really early into his 4th term. He created the New Deal and he created a rehabilitation center because of his polio.Ian did his on radio broadcasts that were sent out. They were called fireside chats. He would use common language that everyone could understand. People would be sitting around the fire while listening to these messages.Alex did his on FDR. He talked about the New Deal and the AAA.Steph did Fransic Perkins. She was the first woman to be involved into government. She used to be a teacher. She changed her name. She was the first female cabinet member.Chelsea did the New Deal. I couldn’t really hear what she was saying. They elected a president who wasn’t gonna win?? I think that’s what she said. The republicans were doomed and they said they needed change.Kelsey T. did hers on John Caller. He helped the Indians own their own land and allow the kids to go to school. We were starting to treat Indians better and with more respect.Brooke did Gains in the 1930’s. Monopoly and garden golf came out. They had a lot of games that came out. They would play baseball but they called it stickball.That is all we really had time for today.
