Today we went over the new maps and then finally began watching Thomas Friedman's lecture about his book "Hot, Flat, and Crowded."
- Describe what the “flat world” means before watching the lecture?
It means that our technology is getting more advanced and we are able to communicate with people from all over the world and compete with them for things like jobs.
2. Briefly describe Globalization 1.0.
Lasted from 1492 to early 1800s. It shrink the size of the world go from large to medium. People went over to other countries for colonization, resources, etc. to make money for their home country.
- Briefly describe Globalization 2.0.
Early 1800s to 2000. It made the size of the world go from medium to small. People began globalizing from their companies. Examples: McDonald's all over the world, Toyota cars being sold in the U.S. and not just in China.
- Briefly describe Globalization 3.0.
- It will shrink the world from size small to tiny and flatten the global economic scale. Individuals can globalize because of the internet.
