Today i finished my Cold war project on NATO, de-stalinization, and Peaceful Coexistance. Then we went on down the line.
China Becoming Communist.
Mao Zedong was the person who made China a Communist country. There was a civil war going on at the time but they worked together during the war but then went back to fighting. The communists killed off opponents in order to have less opostition. Mao Zedont built up his government and took over everything he could so many people died of starvation. Sheck was defeated by Mao so he was forced to flee to Taiwan.
Nixon's Visit to China
Nixon went to china in an attempt to improve relations between us. They talked about weather china would annex Taiwan and if they would be able to get along together. Nixon played Ping Pong while in China. They decided that they would be able to co exist with one another. we reconized Taiwan as they government of china before sheng made it part of China. Nixon then returned to the United states and it was known as one of his greatest accomplishments.
