--communist states could peacefully coexist with capitalist states
--way to work together and communicate even though different goevernments

--communists trying to take over; killed 2 million
--tried to help the common people (hundred flower campaign)
--repelled peoples rights; took back what he had given in hundred flower campaign
--trying to control economy: what is grown where and how much
--people couldnt afford food so they startved to death
--caused more harm than good

--purpose: improve relations with China
--called Nixon's greatest success
--reached conclusion that they could coexist
--Taiwan now province of China
