McCarthy continued
The witch hunts and smear tatics that McCarthy used soon became known as McCarthyism. The political people didnt like this concept but the people accepted it. McCarthyism is when one canidate goes after the other with little to no evidence to back up his or her statements. The army began to give journalits "dirt: on him and he was soon kicked out of the race. Sadly he died a few years later due to cancer.
Berlin Blockade and AirLift.
The Soviet Union blocked Western Allied poweres from delievering supplies to there city. The airlift was an idea in an attempt to drop supplies into the Allied sector of Berlin. The Soveiets were hoping to force the Allies out of Berlin. Germany was separtated into two differant sections. The Soviet union supplied most of the food and supplies to East Germany and eventually made it a Communist Country. Stalin thought we would withdraw soon so he tried to get the rest of germany to make it communist also. Berlin was against Communism so inturn they were treated badly by the Soviets. We got into the city but they wouldnt listen to our plans so they stopped out trians to Berlin
