Today again Mr. Bruns continued doing his power point. The German air force called the Luftwaffe. Herman Goering was the leader of the German air force, and after Hitler commited suicide Goering became the leader. After WWII when all the Nazis were being commited Goering commited suicide.

The B-ases for Destroyers Pact, the U.S. gave GB old destroyers and they gave us naval base in .

Death camps were all in Poland. Hitler wanted the Jews out of Germany and he didn’t want Germans to know what was really going on. There was propaganda showing that the Jews were going off to a nice camp where the kids could play games and have fun. Auschwitz was the most famous death camp in Poland. As the war started going south for the Germans they started killing more and more Jews. At the end of the war they wanted to dig the bodies up and burn them to hide the evidence, but obviously they couldn’t hide it because there was so many bodies.

There is three stages of the neutrality acts, we would not trade with any country at war, next the cash and carry system started to help the allied countries, the last step was the Lend-Lease Act, we would lend and lease supplies to other countries, mostly again to help the allied powers. At this time the U.S. claimed they were neutral, but we were not acting neutral at all. We gave billions of dollars of supplies out.

The battle for the Atlantic. The Germans had been dominating with their U-boats for awhile. In 1943 the Germans started doing worse with their U-boats. The U.S. and the Soviets were doing better because we discovered sonar, we could find out where German boats were.

The Atlantic charter spring of 1941 GB and the U.S. set up war goals, which is weird because the U.S. was not in the war yet. We would not make a deal with Hitler, we wanted all the Nazi’s to be gone.

Japanese invasion of Manchuria, German invasion of France, German invasion of Poland, German invasion of GB, and German invasion of USSR are the invasions we should know. Hitler’s biggest mistake was the invade Russia. They are so huge, lots of people and the land goes on and on. Hitler focused on three cities in Russia and he thought if he captured them, he captured all of Russia. The Soviets were not ready for this because of the Non-Aggression Pact. Stalin ordered for them to burn all farms, factories, ect while they were retreating. After a month of invasion the Germans thought they had it. The winter is what helped the Soviets the most, the Germans were not ready for the freezing cold weather. Russia lost 20 million people in WWII. Stalin wanted the U.S. to invade France, but we didn’t want to yet, we wanted to focus in Africa then go to Italy.

Admiral Yamamoto was educated in the US. He was the guy that came up with the way to attack Pearl Harbor, but at the same time he said it was a bad idea he has been there and knows how huge the US is.
