Today we had a blog discussion over the treaty of Versailles and Mr. Bruns had his own slide over it that he went through.
Territorial changes
Germany lost a lot of land, including their colonies overseas. France and Great Britain got the African colonies, 16.7% of Germany's farmland, 12.5% of Germany's livestock, and 10% of its factories. Germany's size was reduced a total of 12.5%.
Military changes
Germany's army was reduced to about 100,000 men, they were no longer to have submarines, and no more airforce. They also couldn't have a navy, but were allowed six battle ships. France called for Germany to be split into four different zones, and for an independent country made in the Rhineland. Even though Germany was not allowed over 100,000 men in the military they used the reserve system and trained everybody.Once they lost their land, some of the people in Germany didn't to leave, so they joined the Big Four. The Big four was Italy, the United States, Great Britain, and France. The following land was taken from Germany, Alsace Lorriaine to France, Eupen and Malmedy to Belgium, Northern Scheswig to Denmark,-Hultschin to Czechoslovakia.
Financial consequences
Germany paid 33 billion dollars to Great Britian and France. Finland was the only country that paid the US for WWI. Germany's economy plumited way down after World War One. Germany was also forbidden to unite with Austria to form one superstate because that would be them getting more land and more people.
