Today we started out class today by going through the powerpoint on Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are more likely to increase taxes and Republicans want to tax everyone evenly. With military spending and budgets, the Republican Party wants to increase it and cut veteran’s benefits. The Democrat Party wants to cut military spending down and expand veteran’s benefits. Republicans favor the death penalty and think that it’s effective. They don’t see the point in keeping people in prison for the rest of their lives because they’ll just take up space. Republicans also believe that if people are sentenced to death for committing crime than less people will commit crimes. Democrats oppose death penalty because they think it’s not right and some innocent people are dying from it. It’s still killing people, even if they did deserve it, and some might turn their life around. They also believe it isn’t constitutional. We looked at a web site that had statistics on people who were sentenced to death. We skimmed through the rest of the powerpoint and ended it. Then we went over the maps for the test which will be pushed off till next week now, maybe.
