Today is Wednesday and it is going pretty well so far because my computer is actually working today. We are continuing with our World War 2 presentations with a bit of preempt Q and A by Mr. Bruns about the stuff that we have gone over so far. Germany was the leader of the Axis forces when they invaded Poland. China, the US, Australia and France were Ally powers (until France was taken over by Germany).
The Treaty of Versailles did not have a significant impact on Great Brittain. Brittain really didn't lose anything in the Treaty because they were fairly neutral in the matters concerning the Treaty. Great Brittain was a big trading partner with Germany, and they wanted Germany to remain an economically strong country so that Great Brittain and Germany could thrive off of each other. From the Treaty, Great Brittain actually gained a few colonies from the loser nations.
During the Interwar Years, and even today, Great Brittain was a Constitutional Monarchy. This means that it is a nation that is "ruled" by a monarh (king or queen), but the King or Queen is governed by the constituion or democracy. The Monarch is more of a figurehead than anything and has no supreme power over the nation as a whole.
In the Interwar Years, Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister from 1940-1945. He was chosen by the lead party in Parliament. Prime Minister Churchill made it known that the British would not surrend in the face of the rising German forces. He vowed that they would never surrender.
Every single night, the Germans would bomb the country. The people would just go into their bomb shelters and got used to the nightly ritual. The bombers would always bomb them at night because the British military was very good at shooting down German planes. The Germans would just fly over and drop a load of bombs anywhere that they could. This tactic was used faithfully until Germany felt that they were ready to invade Great Brittain.
This tactic by the Germans only seemed to strengthen the spirit and resistence of the British.
