Today in class Mr. Bruns started by showing us where Afghanistan is. We had blog discussions and each talked about our weekly blog that was due on Sunday night. This week’s topic was Afghanistan. We had topics on the history, geography, the US invasion, and the 9/11 attack. Some people also had topics on other things having to do with this country. Afghanistan is a land locked country; this means there is no way to get out except through water. Most of the country is very dry. The capital of Afghanistan is Kabul and the population from the last censes was 26,813,057. Afghanistan was once ruled by an empire right after Alexander the great died. There is a big history of wars and invasion in the country, they also signed a treaty and gave back the treaty once one of the wars were over. The Taliban were leaders who controlled about two thirds of Pakistan including there capital. All of the men must where beards and turbans. The women could not go to school or have any education and half the schools had to be shut down because most of the teachers were women. All of the women had to where burqas which were pretty much dresses with hoods that covered their entire face except for a little net for their eyes.
