Today we did our blog discussions. Kelsey did hers over FDR. Two interesting thins she told us about him were that he married his distant cousin. Elenor was his fifth cousin, it was very usual in those days to marry your cousin. She also told us that he was shot at in 1933. It was when he was taking office. Brandon also did FDR. He told us that Roosevelt was paralyzed from polio. Roosevelt like many presidents back then was having an affair. Elenor found out about his affair and told him to choose. He chose to stay with his wife Elenor. Ray did his over FDR's first hundred days, which is one of my topics for our New Deal project. The very first day he had congress go through a bunch of bills and they reformed the banking industry in America, industries recovered and agriculture was saved.Lucas also did FDR. Roosevelt was elected four times. He could have been president for 16 years but died shortly going into his fourth term. Once he had delt with his polio he started a rehabilitation center. Stephanie did Francis Perkins. Francis was the first women to be involved with the government. She changed her name from Franny to Francis because she thought that Franny was to little kid like and she wanted something more professional. Francis was the first female cabinet member. Brooke did hers over the games during the 1930's. Monopoly, garn golf, johnny on a pony, and stick ball were a couple games. Stick ball is basically just baseball with a stick that they would play on the streets. Johnny on a pony was were boys would pile on top of each other.
