Today is our first day back since Friday, and we are doing strictly blog discussions.-Bre went and talked about FDR and how he started the New Deal.-Michaela did hers over Dorothy Lang. She was a famous photographer during the GreatDepression and one of her photos is the most famous still today for the Great Depression. Austin and Andrea discussed her as well. When she was seven, she was diagnosed with Polio. (FDR had it as well and was in a wheelchair). She had also been remarried and her new husband had been great support with her photography. When she was five her dad died and she dropped her last night and took her mom’s maiden name.-Sadie-Nelson did 1505 the New Deal by FDR -was a stimulus package that fed money into the industries. They also cut state and government employees as well as the payroll saving up to 500 million dollars a year. They had also cut the pensions that WWI veterans had had saving money too.-Mr. Bruns is discussing what it would be like if he would have married his fifth cousin, although it’d be a lot different because he actually had hair then hahaha, funny stuff. IF he knew that the lady he loved was his fifth cousin, he would never EVER look to court her. Hahahaha -I did mine over Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, and I discussed her married life with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and also the life she as a first lady, because the others who did her had covered her early life. She was appointed the head of the Negro Association because she had fought for African American rights. She had overcome her fear of public speaking for her husbands sake, so take over his pubic appearances until he was healed. Because of that and her husbands strong encouragement, she had appeared and spoke to everyone under the sun, the negros, the labors, the white house workers, and just simply the public. She was the reason why FDR stayed in the game.-Brian did FDR and the New Deal. I had learned that FDR was a very compassionate man, but was also afraid of involving the African-Americans because he did not want to disappoint the whites. Well because his wife has strongly helped out the African Americans, he had overcome and began to realize the supporting them was alright.
